Permanent Body Contouring Solutions: SculpSure vs. Cool Sculpting

Body Contouring Burbank

Now that you can remove stubborn fat and cellulite from your belly, hips, and thighs without surgery, the question is which body contouring treatment is best for you? SculpSure or CoolSculpting? While both treatments change the temperature of fat cells to permanently destroy them, Dr. Cynthia, at the Holistic Healing Heart Center, recommends SculpSure treatment to her patients. It takes less time, is more comfortable, and has faster results.

How do SculpSure and CoolSculpting work?

SculpSure uses a laser to heat fat cells in the targeted area. The laser is administered through a flat applicator with cooling plates to remove the intensity of the heat. CoolSculpting uses cooling to freeze fat cells in the targeted area. The freezing is done through a suction device. Both treatments provide non-surgical fat removal.

How long do SculpSure and CoolSculpting treatments take?

SculpSure treatments take about 25 minutes. Up to four flat plates can be placed on the targeted area. In some situations, two areas can be done at the same time. With CoolSculpting, treatments take about 60 minutes. The applicator is placed on the treatment area and the tissue of the targeted area is pulled and sucked between two plates.

How do SculpSure and CoolSculpting treatments feel?

Depending on your sensitivity, during the SculpSure treatment, you may feel a period of warming or higher intensity of heat. This sensation is quickly followed by cooling. Some patients also describe a brief sensation of tingling and/or cramping. During the CoolScuplting treatment, you may feel a sensation of pulling or tugging from the suction device. Afterwards, your treated area is firmly massaged which can lead to soreness. CoolSculpting is considered a very painful procedure, whereas SculpSure is far more comfortable and well-tolerated.

What are the risks of SculpSure and CoolScuplting?

Side effects of SculpSure include minimal swelling and redness and less possibility of bruising. With CoolSculpting, you are more likely to have soreness, redness, mild swelling, and/or occasional bruising. These issues generally resolve in a week or two, however numbness in the treated area can last for several weeks.

How long does it take to see results with SculpSure and CoolSculpting?

SculpSure provides quick results, starting at six weeks after treatment with optimal results at three months. CoolSculpling provides optimal results after two to three months following treatment.

Who can benefit from SculpSure or CoolSculpting?

Both body contouring treatments are for patients who are trying to remove stubborn fat. These treatments are especially effective for people who exercise, eat well, and still have fat they can’t get rid of. SculpSure is also an effective cellulite laser treatment. And, as a non-surgical fat removal technique, it can remove 24 percent of fat in the treatment area. These body contouring treatments are not designed for whole body weight loss or for patients trying to remove a large amount of fat. For patients who need help with whole body weight loss, Dr. Cynthia recommends you make an appointment with the nutritionist and health coach at the Holistic Healing Heart Center at 818-842-1410.

How many SculpSure or CoolSculpting treatments will I need?

The number of SculpSure or CoolSculpting treatments you need is based on your body type and specific treatment goals. If you have less fat to remove, you may need just one treatment. If your goals are more aggressive, or if you have more fat to remove, you may need multiple treatments.

Are body contouring results permanent with SculpSure and CoolSculpting?

As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle—including eating well and exercising—and don’t put on extra weight, your results with both body contouring treatments will be permanent. If you do put on weight, you will generate new fat cells, meaning you will lose the results of the body contouring treatment.
