The Effects of Stress on the Body: Learn how to manage and reduce stress

Beat Stress

Stress is a normal and inevitable part of life. Stress is our body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The human body is designed to experience stress and react to it. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Each one of us is programmed with a “fight or flight” response, which is the body’s natural response to fear or danger, but how we deal with stress is different for all individuals.

Stress can be positive, keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger. But when stress becomes negative a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between challenges which can be extremely harmful on the body, mind, and soul. Stress that continues without relief can lead to condition called distress, which can create physical symptoms including headaches, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and problems sleeping. Research suggests that stress can also bring or worsen certain symptoms or diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.

Fortunately, these are several ways to manage and reduce stress in your life.
